What documents to bring on civic exam day
On civic exam day, bring the documents requested by your center. Here is an indicative checklist — always follow your center's email or summons first.

Your civic exam session is approaching and you want to pack your bag? The exact list may vary by center: your organization's email or summons always takes precedence.
This guide offers a practical checklist. For registration, see how to register for the civic exam.
Always check the center's email
Each approved center may specify particular requirements. Before leaving, reread your confirmation email, summons, and instructions from CCI Paris Île-de-France, FEI, or the local center.
If in doubt, contact the exam center directly.
ID or residence permit
Generally, present valid ID or a valid residence permit. This is the most commonly requested document for identity checks on exam day.
Exam rules are detailed on formation-civique.interieur.gouv.fr and in the October 10, 2025 order.
Summons or registration confirmation
Bring the summons or confirmation email received after registration. Even if the center has a list, this document makes check-in easier.
If you did not receive it, check spam before contacting the center. See also how to register.
Foreign national number / AGDREF if requested
Some registration processes require the foreign national number (AGDREF). If the center requested it at registration, keep this information accessible on exam day in case a check is needed.
Medical certificate or accommodation request if applicable
If you have exam accommodation, bring the medical certificate and any document mentioned in your exchange with the center. See civic exam and disability.
What to avoid bringing or using during the test
During the test, the October 10, 2025 order notably prohibits:
- phone on or not stored according to center rules;
- smartwatch;
- notes or revision documents;
- any communication between candidates.
Arrive early and verify the center address
Plan to arrive early for check-in. Verify the exact address on your summons — it may differ from the registration center. See where to take the civic exam.
Simple checklist before leaving
The night before or morning of, verify:
- summons or center email reviewed;
